Did you know that toys and games have been part of childhood for thousands of years? As early as 4000 B.C. (before Christ), games became a source of entertainment. At that time, people of Babylon played a game that preceded the present day game of chess.

4000 BC – A Babylonian game, which is the ancestor of modern draughts begins to be played

3000 BC – First Game resembling modern Backgammon is played in Sumeria.

2000 BC – Stone marbles first used in Egypt.

1000 BC – Kites appear in China. Stone Yo-Yos begin to be used in Greece

600 BC – An ancestor of chess called ‘Chaturanga’ is played in India.

1759 – Roller skates are invented by Joseph Merlin.

Victorian Era – Victorian children had fewer toys than you have today. Poor Children – Poor families made their own, such as cloth-peg dolls and paper windmills. Children would save their pocket money to buy marbles, a spinning top, skipping ropes, kites or cheap wooden toys.

Rich Children had rocking horses with real horse hair manes, and dolls houses full of beautifully-carved miniature furniture. Other popular toys for rich children included china or wax dolls for the girls and clockwork train sets for the boys. Girls played with dolls and tea sets whilst boys played with toy soldiers and marbles.

During Victorian times, people became fascinated by toys that made pictures move. One of the earliest and simplest of these was the thaumatrope. This is a disc with a picture on either side that is attached to two pieces of string or a stick. When you spin the disc quickly, the two pictures appear to combine into one.

1901 – Meccano goes on sale in the UK. Invented by Frank Hornby in Liverpool, it captures the spirit of the age with a challenging construction toy. One of the century’s leading toy makers and creator of Hornby train sets (1920, and see 1925) and Dinky Toys, Hornby died in 1936.

1902 – In the USA, the Teddy Bear is created by a Russian emigrants Morris MiTchtom who had seen a report of US President Teddy Roosevelt who declined to shoot a bear cub while out hunting. Clifford Berryman’s celebrated newspaper cartoon captured this moment and Mitchcom launched his range of "Teddy" bears in his Brooklyn shop. German toymaker, Margarete Steiff began making jointed toy animals including bears, and they were also able to cash in on the teddy bear craze in the USA, which spread worldwide.

Because all of the major toy manufacturers turned down the chance to make Toy Story merchandise, as they felt that the movie would never catch on. Young children love toys that are familiar, toys that they identify with the television characters that they see. In 2008 the pre school toy of the year was again, In the Night Garden and toys such as Star Wars and toys featuring Thomas the Tank engine (pre school toys of the year in 2005) regularly win toy awards.

Toy Facts

Hasbro is the largest toy manufacturer in the world.

The 20th century saw the invention of dozens of much-loved toys as well. Still-popular board games like Tripoley, Sorry and Monopoly have been around since the 1930s, and Crayola Crayons are more than 100 years old! Twister, made by a division of Hasbro, sold more than 3 million games within a year of its release in 1966. It has sold more than 22 million since then.

Toys aren’t always a hit the year, or even the decade, they’re created. Unemployed architect Alfred Mosher Butts invented the game of Scrabble, which he first called "Lexiko" and later "Criss-Cross Words," in the 1930s. Entrepreneur James Brunot acquired the game in 1947, but it wasn’t until 1953, when the president of Macy’s — now owned by retail giant Federated Department Stores — discovered the game on vacation that things really took off. More than 100 million sets have since been sold worldwide.

The fortunes of other playthings are more cyclical. Troll dolls, which hit big during the 1960s, had all but disappeared by the 1980s until troll nostalgia ushered in a second boom in the early 1990s. As Generation Xers grow older, toys like Cabbage Patch Kids, now made by Mattel, and Koosh balls could stage a comeback as well.

And there’s serious money to be had. Mr. Potato Head, made in 1952 by Hasbro’s Playskool unit, was the first toy advertised on television, and it grossed more than million in its first year (that’s billion in 2005 dollars). Play-doh, which was originally designed for cleaning wallpaper, made inventor Joseph McVicker a millionaire by his 27th birthday. And Mattel sells an astounding 1.5 million Barbie dolls each week — that’s two dolls per second.

11:53AM It was a bot that broke me from the dream world today. The stoic hum produced by my Iphone 5c vibrating on my second hand (sidewalk find) plywood made-to-look-like solid wood Ikea table brought me to consciousness. The number (305) 602-0781 appeared on the liquid-crystal display. Below it: Miami, FL. I don’t know anyone in Miami Florida. Still, being that I work in the entertainment industry and I often get out of state calls regarding work I choose to press my warm human finger into the smooth capacitive circuitry and swipe right.

Foolishly I said hello a couple times because no one was responding, but there was a hint of someone on the other line. I thought perhaps poor signal. Then, her voice, “Hello how are you doing?”

I was half-way sure it was a bot, yet I responded, wanting to play along. Me, “Great.”

Then, it, “Blah, blah, blah, I want to tell you about historically low insurance rates.”

I know this all happened at 10:35AM because my phone logged it.

Now that I was awake I walked to the bathroom and released my night-time liquid build up of toxins, I didn’t flush because I knew there’d be a solid release on the way. I downed some water and ate my daily organic orange, this time purchased from the Palmdale Trader Joe’s (I went through there on a spontaneous trip to Death Valley Tuesday.) Today is Thursday, BTW.

After my morning shit I stepped to my self-built stand-up desktop computer to check the internet for any communications.

Like magic I scrolled through Facebook to find people had commented and like photographs of my image. I scrolled through the FB news feed to find other things people had posted. A friend put up a video of this street personality, Matthew Silver. I choose to watch this video, and you should know, that know in the year 2014 you have so many friends posting videos that you truly have to make a conscious choice of what content you’re going to give your time to throughout the day.

I was quite pleased I pressed play on this one. Matthew Silver, also known as, Man in White Dress was running into stores and beating on a drum chanting, “Love is the answer, stop buying stuff.” He’s promptly removed from a grocery store by security. Next he storms into Forever 21, this is all happening in NYC yet I’m watching from my bedroom in Studio City, CA. So he’s running around the Forever 21, and he’s dancing and people look scared. And it’s weird that people are afraid of this behavior. It’s weird for me to see security trying to stop this man from dancing, epically since Forever 21 is blasting POP-hits. The video made me happy and ignited a fire within me making me want to get out and spread more love today.

I took a break from the computer world to cook my daily oats. I like to make rolled oats, also from Trader Joe’s. I boil them on the stove-top and then I add fresh fruits, today I added an organic banana.

While I let my oats cool, which can take ten to twenty minutes, I came across posts about some incident that happened in Ferguson, Missouri. It quickly came to my knowledge that an unarmed 18 year old boy had been shot to death by local police. The first post I read was very interesting. A friend had posted an article about how the hacker group anonymous had shut down the Ferguson, Missouri government by taking out their computer systems.

The first shock about that was that you can shut-down a city government just by taking out computers. The second shock was the reason they say they did this. They say that they want the city of Ferguson to release the name of the officer that killed this teenager. And that’s huge. Basically it seems that when these things happen, and yes it does often happen that U.S. police officers mistakenly kill innocent people. It seems to me that the police try to hide as much as they can to protect any single officer involved. Almost like a gang, in the way that gang members all dress alike and cut their hair the same way. (I personally was the victim of a hate crime and was never able to achieve justice because the gang members all look the same and there was no way to charge any-one person. But that’s a whole other story.) What’s important is what’s going on right now.

I don’t have Television and I try to avoid the news because I feel it’s important to give your time and energy to the immediate people in your life. However this thing happening today is huge. I’ve never heard of a hacker group shutting down a government.

From what I gathered in reading articles on the web, is that the people of Ferguson, Missouri then protested and police asked them to only hold protests during the day, but they protested into the night, and police started attacking the crowds.

Is it really our current state of culture that we have “rules” for protests? Because I thought protest means you’re going all out until the voice of the people is heard. Apparently the Ferguson police department feels a need to shut down their citizens. It’s going around that they now supply these police departments with military-type weaponry and it becomes a thing where the officers want so bad to use these tools of murder that they will mentally escalate situations.

From what I read it seems pretty clear cut, a police officer murdered an unarmed teen, and this officer should be facing the consequences of that action. That’s common sense.

“The word dragon entered the English language in the early 13th century from Old French dragon, which in turn comes from Latin draconem (nominative draco) meaning “huge serpent, dragon,” from the Greek word, drakon “serpent, giant seafish”. The Greek and Latin term referred to any great serpent, not necessarily m

Who is Muammar Gaddafi? (according to wikipedia)
On Prophet Muhammed’s birthday in 1973, Gaddafi delivered his famous "Five-Point Address" which declared:
– Suspension of all existing laws and implementation of Shari’a
– Purging the country of the "politically sick"
– Creation of a "people’s militia" to "protect the revolution"
– Administrative revolution
– Cultural revolution
School vacations were canceled to teach Gaddafi’s thoughts to children in the summer of 1973.
Gaddafi based his new regime on a blend of Arab nationalism, aspects of the welfare state, and what Gaddafi termed "popular democracy", or more commonly "direct, popular democracy". He called this system "Islamic socialism", and, while he permitted private control over small companies, the government controlled the larger ones. Welfare, "liberation" (or “emancipation” depending on the translation), and education were emphasized. He also imposed a system of Islamic morals, outlawing alcohol and gambling. Like previous revolutionary figures of the 20th century such as Mao and his Little Red Book, Gaddafi outlined his political philosophy in his Green Book to reinforce the ideals of this socialist-Islamic state and published it in three volumes between 1975 and 1979.
In 1977, Gaddafi proclaimed that Libya was changing its form of government from a republic to a "jamahiriya" – a neologism that means "mass-state" or "government by the masses". In theory, Libya became a direct democracy governed by the people through local popular councils and communes. At the top of this structure was the General People’s Congress, with Gaddafi as secretary-general. However, after only two years, Gaddafi gave up all of his governmental posts in keeping with the new egalitarian philosophy.
Gaddafi established close relations with communist regimes.
With respect to Libya’s neighbors, Gaddafi followed Gamal Abdel Nasser’s ideas of pan-Arabism and became a fervent advocate of the unity of all Arab states into one Arab nation. He also supported pan-Islamism, the notion of a loose union of all Islamic countries and peoples. After Nasser’s death on 28 September 1970, Gaddafi attempted to take up the mantle of ideological leader of Arab nationalism. He proclaimed the "Federation of Arab Republics" (Libya, Egypt, and Syria) in 1972, hoping to create a pan-Arab state, but the three countries disagreed on the specific terms of the merger. In 1974, he signed an agreement with Tunisia’s Habib Bourguiba on a merger between the two countries, but this also failed to work in practice and ultimately differences between the two countries would deteriorate into strong animosity.

MEDIA COVERAGE

February 22: Why Libya Will Not Be Democratic Benjamin R. Barber. Author of ‘Strong Democracy’ and ‘Jihad vs. McWorld’
Posted: February 22, 2011 03:16 PM …the outcome is likely to be tragic rather than democratic. …If Gadhafi’s resistance to the resistance fails, he is likely to die a martyr. No comfortable exile in Caracas for him. Remember, Gadhafi is no Mubarak or Bashar al-Assad, a second or third generation bureaucratic heir to once revolutionary dictatorships. He is a founding revolutionary cut from the same cloth as Nasser and Castro, and his revolutionary rhetoric, if seemingly incoherent and irrelevant to the modern world, is authentic, rooted in the (mostly) vanished world of colonialism, imperialism, socialism and people’s democracy.
He is also a clan leader, and in tribal North Africa clans and tribes retain political significance. It was as a member of the Qadaffa clan that Saif Gadhafi pledged allegiance to his father on Sunday night, despite Saif’s own genuine history as a reformer and human rights advocate in Libya. Blood trumps principle. While the other supposedly more complacent and pro-regime sons stood by, Saif stood up and martyred his six-year campaign to rescue Libya from autocracy in order to rescue his father from the consequences of autocracy — embracing his father’s struggle to the death. Cynics write Saif off as a hypocrite and reformist poseur, but the truth is quite different, the stuff of an epic tragedy for which the Libyan people are paying a terrible price.
If, then, Gadhafi loses the "revolutionary" struggle to maintain his Libyan Jamahiriya (people’s democratic revolution) and his tribal struggle to uphold the "honor" of his clan, the Qadaffa, against rivals like the Zuwayya in the East or the Warfalla in the South, Libya may be in for — if not the "civil war" and the "rivers of blood" predicted by Saif Gadhafi on Sunday night — a long period of civil unrest and tribal turmoil. There is no coherent force like a Muslim Brotherhood or a Baathist Party or a professional military to step in either to rule or to pave the way to elections.
The only reform movement was the weak one headed by Saif Gadhafi (!), whose International Foundation for Development and Charity was doing human rights work, and which has now been disbanded (its international governing board on which I served has resigned and its honorable reformist executive director has stepped down in "dismay" over the violence. See my resignation letter at BenjaminBarber.org). But Saif has now aligned himself with his father’s regime. If the father is deposed, there is little chance the son can go back to being a reformer and human rights advocate. And Oxford University Press, which contracted to publish the two extraordinary books Saif wrote on civil society and democratic reform in the developing world, will presumably now cancel publication.
The one thing that will not happen in the event of Gadhafi’s removal from power is democracy; not now, and not for a long time. Nothing like the conditions that obtained in Cairo obtain in Libya. Rather, continued conflict and chaos and an eventual emergence of a new autocratic regime is likely. Probably not an Islamic regime, since Gadhafi’s revolution has been secular and anti-Islamicist, and tribalism is more important than religion in the countryside. In any case, a revolution overthrowing the revolution is not a recipe for democracy. Keep in mind that even in Cairo, the two key members of the Supreme Council supposedly overseeing a transition to democracy are Mubarak’s appointees and comrades-in-arms Field Marshall Tantawi and Prime Minister Shafiq …
IF HE SURVIVES: On the other hand, it is unlikely, but not impossible, that Gadhafi will survive, not just because he has access to overwhelming firepower (if he can control those who wield it), but because he has clan and tribal support and at least tacit consent from many Libyans who have depended on him over the years for their own survival. He is a crafty and intelligent survivalist. No autocrat endures for 42 years holding no formal political office because he is a bumbling buffoon totally out of touch (as the media have always treated him and are treating him now {–>Zenga Zenga Song}). Indeed, the current efforts at the UN to establish a "no fly zone over Libya" can only give credence to his and Saif’s argument that the uprising will become an excuse for foreign "imperialist" intervention. It was no accident that Gadhafi stood today in front of his old residence, where his daughter died in the U.S. bombing during the Reagan era, to offer his rambling diatribe against foreigners.

February 25: American, French & British Military Advisers Land In Libya, Posted by majestic on February 25, 2011@disinformation According to DEBKAfile, western military advisers have landed in Libya and are actively assisting anti-government forces:
Hundreds of US, British and French military advisers have arrived in Cyrenaica, Libya’s eastern breakaway province, DEBKAfile’s military sources report exclusively. This is the first time America and Europe have intervened militarily in any of the popular upheavals rolling through the Middle East since Tunisia’s Jasmine Revolution in early January. The advisers, including intelligence officers, were dropped from warships and missile boats at the coastal towns of Benghazi and Tobruk Thursday Feb. 24, for a threefold mission:
1. To help the revolutionary committees controlling eastern Libyan establish government frameworks for supplying two million inhabitants with basic services and commodities;
2. To organize them into paramilitary units, teach them how to use the weapons they captured from Libyan army facilities, help them restore law and order on the streets and train them to fight Muammar Qaddafi’s combat units coming to retake Cyrenaica.
3. The prepare infrastructure for the intake of additional foreign troops. Egyptian units are among those under consideration…

February 26: a christian fundamentalist blogger writes on February 26, 2011 Armed men in green armbands, along with uniformed security forces check those trying to enter the district, where graffiti that says “Gadhafi, you Jew,” “Down to the dog,” and “Tajoura is free” was scrawled on walls.
Outside the capital, rebels held a long swath of about half of Libya’s 1,000-mile (1,600-kilometer) Mediterranean coastline where most of the population lives, and even captured a brigadier general and a soldier Saturday as the Libyan army tried to retake an air base east of Tripoli. The state-run news agency also said the opposition held an air defense commander and several other officers.
On Friday, pro-Gadhafi militiamen — including snipers — fired on protesters trying to mount the first significant anti-government marches in days in Tripoli.
Gadhafi, speaking from the ramparts of a historic Tripoli fort, told supporters to prepare to defend the nation as he faced the biggest challenge to his 42-year rule.
“At the suitable time, we will open the arms depot so all Libyans and tribes become armed, so that Libya becomes red with fire,” Gadhafi said.

February 28 / March 1: Hugo Chavez Refuses To Condemn Muammar Gaddafi, Warns That U.S. Is Preparing Invasion Of Libya First Posted: 02/28/11 11:14 PM Updated: 03/ 1/11 11:00 PM CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Monday that he won’t condemn Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and he warned the United States is preparing an invasion of the North African country.
"A campaign of lies is being spun together regarding Libya," Chavez said during a televised speech. "I’m not going to condemn him. I’d be a coward to condemn someone who has been my friend.
…Chavez slammed the United States for moving naval and air forces closer to Libya amid active international discussions about imposing a no-fly zone over the country, and he warned that U.S. officials are preparing to invade Libya.
Chavez and Gaddafi, united in their mutual antagonism toward Washington, have forged close ties.
Venezuela’s opposition has strongly criticized Chavez for his close relationship to Gaddafi. Earlier on Monday, a coalition of opposition parties warned that Chavez’s failure to take a stand against Gaddafi’s violence crackdown is smearing Venezuela’s reputation.
"By distancing himself from the numerous nations that condemn the criminal actions of the Libyan leader, Chavez makes our country out to be his defender and irresponsibly puts us alongside governments rejected by the international community," the coalition said in a statement.
Opposition politician Gustavo Azocar demanded that Chavez ask Gaddafi to return a replica of the sword that once belonged to 19th-century independence hero Simon Bolivar.
Azocar said in an e-mail sent to The AP on Monday that Venezuela’s foreign minister, Nicolas Maduro, "should explain why the government gave the sword of the Liberator, Simon Bolivar, to an assassin like Gaddafi."
Chavez gave the sword to Gaddafi last year. The self-proclaimed socialist has scoffed at suggestions by his adversaries that protests similar to those sweeping the Middle East could occur in Venezuela.

In einem Op-ed für die englischsprachige Ausgabe der Tageszeitung Zaman schrieb er dieser Tage: "Working with democratic governments as equals, the US may cease to be the protector of oppression and corruption in the Arab world."

Schicken Sie Ihren Bericht. Die Welt muss sehen, was hier passiert."

August 22: Leaders urge ‘tyrant’ Gaddafi to end fight @ Al Jazeera
International leaders have urged Muammar Gaddafi to concede defeat in his struggling to hold onto power in Libya as scenes of celebration broke out in central Tripoli as rebels advanced into the heart of the capital.
"Tonight, the momentum against the Gaddafi regime has reached a tipping point. Tripoli is slipping from the grasp of a tyrant," said US President Barack Obama.
Obama also called on the opposition Transitional National Council, which Washington recognises as Libya’s legitimate governing authority, to demonstrate leadership, respect human rights, preserve the institutions of the Libyan state and move towards democracy.
"The Gaddafi regime is showing signs of collapsing. The people of Libya are showing that the universal pursuit of dignity and freedom is far stronger than the iron fist of a dictator."
He went on to say that Gaddafi and his followers should "recognise that their rule has come to an end".
"Gaddafi needs to acknowledge the reality that he no longer controls Libya. He needs to relinquish power once and for all."

But Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez condemned NATO, which has backed the rebels by enforcing a no-fly zone over Libya and launching hundreds of air strikes against Gaddafi’s forces, for "demolishing" Tripoli.
"Today we are seeing images of how the democratic European governments – well some of them are (democratic), we know who they are – are practically demolishing Tripoli with their bombs and the supposedly democratic government of the United States, because they feel like it."
"Today they dropped I don’t know how many bombs, and they are dropping them indiscriminately and openly and they are not explaining anything, over schools, hospitals, houses, businesses, factories, farms. This is happening right now."

August 22:
Heavy Clashes Near Qaddafi Compound as Rebels Overtake Most of Tripoli @foxnews
By Monday morning, a rebel spokesman told Al Jazeera that Qaddafi loyalists only controlled between 15 and 20 percent of the city, Reuters reported.
Abdel-Rahman says that Qaddafi troops remain a threat to rebels advanced into the city Sunday, and that as long as Qaddafi remains on the run the "danger is still there."
AP reporters with the rebels said they reached the Tripoli suburb of Janzour around nightfall Sunday. They were greeted by civilians lining the streets and waving rebel flags.
Qaddafi’s son, Saif al-Islam Qaddafi, was captured by rebel forces as they overtook the city….
"It’s over, frizz-head," chanted hundreds of jubilant men and women massed in Green Square, using a mocking nickname of the curly-haired Qaddafi. The revelers fired shots in the air, clapped and waved the rebels’ tricolor flag. Some set fire to the green flag of Qaddafi’s regime and shot holes in a poster with the leader’s image.

21st Oct: Moammar Gadhafi Dead Photo and Video Circulates After Dictator’s Death by Kate James
Since the news of Moammar Gadhafi’s death people have wanted confirmation, which has come as the day has worn on. In addition, there has been a shocking Gadhafi death photo and video that show the dictator’s last seconds.
Both the video of the dictator’s last bloody, confused seconds and the Gadhafi death photo are graphic and shocking. Some newscasts played the video tonight without even a bit of warning, which shocked people who were watching. Everybody wants to know that the Libyan dictator is dead, but not everybody has to see such gruesome evidence.
The raw video shows plenty of confusing blood and gunshots. Moammar Gadhafi goes across the screen with blood pouring from his head covering his face and clothing. The scene is pure bedlam. The group was quite violent, and showed him no mercy near the end. You can check it out below, but be warned that it is disturbing.
The Gadhafi dead photo is no better either. It is graphic showing the lifeless dictator’s body flopped at a strange angle in a pool of his own blood.

22nd Oct: Gaddafi burial delayed @aljazeera Slain leader’s body kept in cold storage before secret burial as UN calls video of his last moments "disturbing".

23rd Oct: BND reportedly knew Qaddafi’s hiding place @the local The German intelligence service knew where ousted Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi was hiding out weeks before he was tracked down by Libyan rebel forces … The BND denied the report.

24th Oct: NATO commander no idea Gadhafi in targeted convoy (AP, Brussels) "We saw a convoy and we had no idea that Gadhafi was on board. In fact, I was surprised that Gadhafi was in the Sirte area," the commander of NATO operations in Libya, Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard, said during a video conference from his headquarters in Naples, Italy.

Bouchard said NATO air surveillance had detected about 175 vehicles assembling in Sirte early Thursday, preparing to transport remaining loyalists out of the besieged coastal town as forces of the new government mounted their final assault.
"The vehicles started to make their way out, and one of the outcomes of this was the concern (that forces) from Sirte would join with the remnants of forces from Bani Walid and move into another desert area," Bouchard said.

The airstrikes were among the 26,000 sorties and 9,600 strike missions flown by NATO warplanes in the past seven months, during which around 5,900 military targets were destroyed. These included Libya’s air defenses and more than 1,000 tanks, vehicles and guns, as well as Gadhafi’s command and control networks.
The daily airstrikes enabled the rebels’ ragtag forces to advance and take Tripoli two months ago. On Sunday, Libya’s interim rulers declared the country liberated, launching the oil-rich nation on what is meant to be a two-year transition to democracy.

26th Oct: Gaddafi, Sodomy, and Liberal Peace Victoria Fontan
Surely the good rebels of Libya that my country, France, has been supporting with 500 Million euros that it did not have to spare, were not capable of such a thing. I click on the video and here it is, in all its savage truth. The good people of Libya, hungry for human rights and democracy, savagely insert a knife in the anus of their former leader, shower him with punches, lynch him, shoot him in the head, and drag his body on the pavement…

30th Oct: Gaddafi: ‘He died an angry and disappointed man’ By Katya Adler, BBC News, Misrata
A trusted member of Col Gaddafi’s inner circle, Mansour Dhao was captured with him in Sirte. He provides a rare insight into the former dictator’s state of mind in his last hours and days.
"Gaddafi was nervous. He couldn’t make any calls or communicate with the outside world. We had little food or water. Sanitation was bad," he told me.
"He paced up and down in a small room, writing in a notebook. We knew it was over. Gaddafi said, ‘I am wanted by the International Criminal Court. No country will accept me. I prefer to die by Libyan hands’."
Mansour Dhao said Col Gaddafi then made the decision to go to his birthplace, the nearby valley of Jarref. I asked if it was a suicide mission.
"It was a suicide mission," Mansour Dhao said. "We felt he wanted to die in the place he was born. He didn’t say it explicitly, but he was going with the purpose to die."
But Col Gaddafi’s plan was thwarted – his convoy was bombed by Nato.
The once-feared dictator scrambled into a water pipe for cover. That is where he was found and captured.

Telecomix Crypto Munitions Bureau works for the benefit of cipherspace. Cipherspace is the state of crypto anarchy. This means that your identity is anonymous as long as you stay protected. There are no identities or authorities in cipherspace, and it is not possible to enforce laws where there is no identity, or where there are no authorities.

Today there are several threats to the inhabitants of the internet. The politicians of oppressive regimes in the east and in the west, in north and south, are imposing surveillance. Surveillance of the entire networks. What people say to each other, what information is transmitted between bots and humans alike.

This aggression must be met with the strongest encryption algorithms available to modern computers. With onion and garlic routing it is possible to erect the fractal cipherspace. With distributed hash tables it is possible to create networks that has no central node. There is no one that controls the fractal cipherspace. Internet as we know it, turns into darknet.

Telecomix Crypto Munitions Bureau recommends that you use the following software: i2p, for anonymous and secure communications, Gnu Privacy Guard, for direct and verified communication. The onion router, TOR, to access the internets.

Telecomix Munitions is a defense bureau.

You can change the future of the internets by joining us in defending the networks and creating cipherspace.

You can help defending yourself and your friends, yes, all inhabitants of the networks.

By learning a few skills you can take control over technology.

Telecomix munitions are currently developing and promoting advanced security devices, which can endure even the harshest forms of government or corporation surveillance.

Your personal computer is an encryption device. Modern hardware can transform plain text to ciphertext with ease. So rapidly you barely notice the difference between unencrypted and encrypted data.

The laws of mathematics are infinitely stronger than the laws of nations and corporations, as the human laws are really only ink on paper. The laws of mathematics, on the other hand, are the laws that define our very universe. With the use of modern crypto algorithms we can use this fact to defend free speech and the integrity of both bots and humans. Information is nothing but numbers, numbers governed not by human laws, but by the laws of mathematics.

Networks that utilize the power of cryptography already exist. It will not be possible to stop the spread of the fractal cipherspace.

Yangshuo is an incredibly beautiful place. The landscape is dotted with karst (eroded limestone) peaks and the Li river winds its way past, heading south to join the Pearl River before the South China Sea.

The area around Yangshuo is renowned throughout China, if not the whole world, (even making it into the backdrop of Star Wars Episode III), for its karst landscape where there are hundreds upon hundreds of limestone hills dotting the countryside. The beautiful scenery here is a common subject of Chinese paintings as well as the inspiration for poetry.

I admit ignorance as to the great variety of these aprons which I hope to remedy by joining the York Rite and Scottish Rite Masons in the coming years. I surmise that these aprons are for Masonic degree work, and not for visitors. Time will tell and the secrets will be revealed.

Masonic Aprons are always at the ready for visitors.

Background history:
www.phoenixmasonry.org/symbolism_and_design_of_the_masoni…

Delivered in the Lodge by W. Bro. C.J.E. Hudspeth, PM, AMIE Australia
on June 24, 1949

The Apron is not a modern invention, in fact it is the most ancient of all garments. In the 3rd Chapter of Genesis these words are written: "and the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons."

We are not so much interested in Adam and Eve’s apron as we are in the Masonic apron. Boutelle, in his story of the building of King Solomon’s Temple, says: "When the construction of King Solomon’s Temple was commenced, workmen were selected to carry out the different trades. Hiram, the widow’s son, proclaimed that before entering upon the undertaking the aid of God should first be invoked, and as the Temple was to be God’s Holy House and erected to Him, each workman having a part in its construction should offer a sacrifice to God on the Altar of Burnt Offering. The Lamb had in all ages been deemed an Emblem of Innocence and was offered as a sacrifice. With the exception of the skin, the whole of the lamb was consumed. The skins were properly prepared and Hiram caused aprons to be made of them. One apron from the skin of each lamb sacrificed, one apron for each mason under him."

When the aprons had been presented to the workmen, Hiram is reported to have said: "Masonic authority makes this, the snow-white lambskin apron, its first tangible gift to you and ordains that all Masons in all ages, wherever they may be throughout the world, shall ever receive it and always wear it." The apron is an emblem of innocence. Innocent life has gone out of the world: for every man an apron – for every apron a life.

This sacrifice is typical of a greater sacrifice promised by the Almighty and prophesied by all the Prophets of Isreal – the coming of the Messiah who shall be offered for the guilty world. This is the badge of a Mason. It sets the Mason apart from other men. There shall be many who seek to wear it and those to whom it is given shall exalt themselves because of possessing it. No other gift that mere man can bestow can equal this honour and dignity. Kings can bestow no decorations or titles so worthy as this.

The Senior Warden says: "More ancient than the Golden Fleece or Roman Eagle, more honourable than the Garter or any other Order in existence, being the Badge of Innocence and bond of friendship." The Order of the Golden Fleece was founded by Phillip the Good, Duke of Burgundy and the Netherlands on January 10th, 1430, in honour of his marriage to Isabel, daughter of King John of Portugal.

It is not definitely known why the order was named the Golden Fleece, but there are four surmises as to its origin.

(1) In memory of Jason and his exploits in Greek Legends.

(2) Because the wealth of Flanders came largely from wool.

(3) That it was so named in memory of Gideon’s request that the Lord would prove his Power by causing the dew of heaven to fall only on a fleece set out in the night while the surrounding ground remained dewless. (Judges 6th Chapter. Verses 37 to 40).

(4) That it was named in honour or the Duke’s own mistress because he gloried in her wondrous fleece of beautiful golden hair.

Jason.

According to a Greek legend, there was a fabled ram with a golden fleece, on which the discarded wife of the King of Thessaly placed her son and daughter, bidding the ram to carry them to a place of safety far from the wrath of her successor in the King’s affections. The daughter, whose name was Helle, fell into the waters of the Strait which connects the Aegean Sea with Constantinople, from which event the Strait was given the name of Hellespont – the Dardanelles of the present day.

The boy kept his hold and he reached the land of Colchis on the eastern shore of the Black Sea. Here he sacrificed the ram and gave its fleece to the King of that country, who had received him hospitably. The fleece was hung up in a sacred grove and guarded day and night by a dragon that never slept.

Jason, a Grecian hero, charged with bringing back the Golden Fleece to Thessaly – as the price of a Kingdom – set out on his quest in the good ship ARGO, manned with his Argonaut crew of immortal heroes. After many thrilling adventures he succeeded in the mission, and with a yoke of fire-breathing bulls performed the task assigned to him of ploughing under the dragon’s teeth which produced a crop of warriors. These assailed him, but turned against each other when Jason sprinkled them liberally with a potent lotion prepared for him by Medea, his lady love who was, luckily, a sorceress of great power. This legend or myth is probably intended to dramatise the first Grecian expedition.

The Roman Eagle was associated with the God Jupiter in Roman Mythology. Jupiter was the lord of life and light. The most celebrated temple of Jupiter was on the Capitoline Hill in the City of Rome. The Roman represented Jupiter as seated on the throne of ivory, holding in his right hand a sheaf of thunderbolts and in his left a sceptre, whilst an eagle stands beside his throne. When about to go into battle the consuls offered sacrifice to Jupiter praying that he might lead them against the enemy and, on their return from victory, thanks-givings were offered in his name.

The figure of the eagle appears on the Standards of the Roman legions and is reflected in the national ensigns of the United States of America, of France under Napoleon, of Imperial Germany and WWII Germany, Mexico and other nations.

The Eagle is an emblem of might and courage amongst birds, as is the lion among beasts. Its far-seeing vision, the vast height to which it soars, the wild grandeur of its abode and its longevity have been extolled in poetic phrases by the poets of every tongue and nation.

When the Roman Eagle yielded its sway over the then known world, that world sank into a night of 1000 years during which time – with few exceptions – no pet, painter, orator, statesman, inventor, or discoverer was produced; an age which ended only with the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, accompanied by the production of gold and other wealth in sufficient quantities to stimulate the world to a new day and new era.

The tassels have seven strings which represent-

(1) The 7 liberal Arts and Sciences-Grammar, Rhetoric (the art and science of expression), Logic, Arithmetic, Geometry, Music, Astronomy.
The number 7 appears in nearly every ancient institution.

(2) 7 or more the make a lodge perfect.

(3) King Solomon was 7 years and upwards in building the temple to God’s Service.

(4) 7 was the perfect number of the Pythagoreans because it was composed of three and four-the sum of the points of the triangle and the square-the two perfect figures.

(5) The 7 steps.

(6) 7 Altars burned constantly before Mithra.

(7) The Hindus believed the world to be surrounded by 7 peninsulas.

(8) There are 7 spacious caverns in the Persian mysteries.

(9) The 7 branched candlestick of the Jews representing the Sun as the central light and six other planets.

(10) Jacob saw a ladder of 7 steps leading to heaven.

The sum of the strings in the two tassels is 14, which was the number of pieces into which the body of OSIRIS was divided by Set in the Egyptian mysteries.

The Ribbon Around the Edge of the Apron

The blue ribbon around the apron has a deep symbolic meaning, and it will be seen that on reference to the Volume of the Sacred Law, The Book of Numbers, Chapter 15.

37th Verse – And the Lord spake unto Moses saying.

38th Verse – Speak unto the Children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a riband of blue

39th Verse – And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that you may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them; that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes; after which ye used to go a whoring;

40th Verse – That ye may remember, and do my commandments, and be holy unto your God.

41st Verse – I am the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.

The Colour of the Ribbon

The Blue of the Apron is Cambridge Blue. It is closely related to the colour of the Virgin Mary, which is itself derived from the Blue of the Ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis. In 1813 the English Grand Lodge standardised the size and shape of aprons. The Blue of the apron is also the "Garter blue" of an early date. King George II changed the Garter Blue from its original colour to its present dark blue to distinguish his Garter Knights from those created by the exiled Stuarts. According to Mackay, the blue border was added – the colour of the firmament enveloping the globe – emblematic of universal friendship and benevolence, instructing us that in the mind of a Freemason these virtues should be as extensive as the vault of Heaven itself.

The Two Levels.

Standing erect, the form of the apron gives two levels, one at the top, one at the bottom. The lower level is laid in the earth. It is symbolical of the level of time along which we walk toward that place from which no traveller returns. The level above it is laid in the heavens – a spiritual level. It is a promise that those who walk uprightly before God and Man (which is symbolised by the two perpendiculars on either side) shall walk eternally on the spiritual level.

The Plumbs or sides, admonish rectitude. Rectitude of Conduct. Rectitude of Morals, Rectitude of Life.

2 Kings 21-13th Verse – and I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab.

Isiaah 28-17th Verse – Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet.

Amos 7-7th Verse – Thus he showed me, and behold the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

Amos 7-8th Verse – And the Lord said unto me, Amos what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.

Zachariah 4-10th Verse – For who hath despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerrubabel with those even, they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

Which means that God has been lenient with his people in the past but without avail, he now proposes to set up in their midst a test of uprightness – a plumb line – and if his people failed to measure up to it, He would no more ignore their shortcomings but would rigourously punish them. Let none fail to walk uprightly. God and Man watch him. God and Man shall witness for him in another day.

The Squares.

There are four squares upon the Apron – one in each corner. The square leads a man from below to above, from the earthly level to the spiritual level. We should always live up to the Law of the Square-which is found in the Bible. Matthew 22-37, Mark 12-30, Luke 10-27: "And thou shall love the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, and with thy soul and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength." This is the first commandment, and the second, thus "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself". There are no greater commandments than these.

Laboriously lay levels, perseveringly erect plumbs, but with double care and reverent hearts square all things that we, the architect of our spiritual temple, may find favour in the all-seeing eye of the great Architect and be permitted to walk forever on the level in realms of eternal light.

The Serpent.

www.flickr.com/photos/51035825322@N01/3690704970/in/photo…

There are two kinds of symbolism in all ancient religions.

(1) The enemy of Man and therefore the representative of the power of evil.

(2) Emblem of Divine Wisdom. (Matthew 10-16. "Be ye wise as serpents" does not refer to the craftiness of the devil but to divine wisdom.)

In ancient Egypt, the Soul as he passed through the underworld met with serpents of evil and also with serpents of good. In India legend tells us of a whole order of beings, the Serpent Folk, who are of a spiritual nature – different from man, possessed of their own rulers and endowed with superhuman wisdom. Some of these were considered to be friendly to man while others were hostile. The Sacred Cobra is well known to every student of Hindu religion and is essentially good. Actual worship is paid to the serpent throughout the whole of India and in many other parts of the world. In the Kabala we get traces of the fact that under certain circumstances the serpent is regarded as "the Shining One", the Holy Wisdom itself. Thus we see that the Serpent on our apron denotes that we are encircled by the Holy Wisdom. Finally – the serpent biting its tail and thus forming a circle, has always been regarded as the emblem of Eternity and more especially of the Eternal Wisdom of God.

The Tau(s)

www.flickr.com/photos/21728045@N08/7762218972/in/photolis…

As the Master Mason advances and becomes Master of his Lodge, the rosettes of his apron give way to three Taus or levels as they are generally called. The Tau is the symbol of the Creator.

It is said that Tau was the mark set upon the foreheads of those referred to in Ezekiel 9-4th Verse 4 (see also Rev. 7-3): "Go through the midst of the city, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof," which mark was to distinguish them as persons to be saved on account of their sorrow for sin, from the idolaters who were to be slain. With reference to the 9th Chapter of Ezekiel, 4th Verse, the Holy Bible as used by the Roman Catholics, translated from the Latin Vulgate says: "Go through the midst of Jerusalem and mark thou upon the foreherads of men that sign."

Tau is the last letter in the Hebrew alphabet. The Greek letter Tau is T. This Tau cross was of universal use as a sacred symbol among the ancients. The Hebrews used it as a sign of Salvation. It is thought to be much older than the time of Ezekiel and that when Moses annointed Aaron as the High Priest, he marked his forehead with this sign. It is said to have saved the youthful Isaac from death, redeemed from destruction an entire people whose houses were so marked, healed the venomous bites of those who looked up at the serpent, raised in the form of a "tau" upon a pole, and called back the soul into the dead body of the son of that poor widow who had given bread to the prophet. It was a mark worn by the devotees of Brahmah. To the Druids it was a symbol of their supreme God. The Tau Cross as worn on the Master’s Apron, replacing the Rosettes, is thought by some to be the Egyptian Ankh, as worn by the ancient Egyptian Gods. The Ankh represent Life. Every God carried it.

The T or Tau cross, is an ancient symbol of the ongoing of Eternal Life. The vertical line represents the inner nature of the individual intelligence. The cross bar in the beginning is at the bottom. As life goes on, obstructions and temptations to right living are gradually overcome. When the cross bar has risen threequarters, the individual Intelligence of Soul has "lived the life" and worked out his own salvation. When the cross bar is at the top, the soul has triumphed over death and the conscious self-identity of his own individual intelligence independent of his physical body assures him of the on-going of eternal life, symbolised by the circle added to the Tau Cross. The Gods are cosmic principles, and in man are powers and attributes of the Soul. Every part of the Egyptian God had a deep symbolic meaning such as the Sceptre as a symbol of power. It will be seen in reference to drawings of Goddesses that they carry a reed sceptre for this reason: The reed is a water plant, symbol of the first life, coming from a concealed source, making its way through the material mud and then the less dense or limped water, up into the material air. The reed is carried by the goddesses as a symbol of the source of human life over which they have dominion.

Whilst we are mainly concerned with the English Masonic apron (albeit Victorian and somewhat Scottish and Irish), reference to the Masonic clothing in other lands may be of interest.

Belgium. – The Grand Lodge Aprons are of light blue silk, embroidered with gold fringe, without tassels. The collars are embroidered with gold with the jewels of office, and with acacia and other emblems.

Egypt. – The Grand Orient uses the same clothing as the Grand Lodge of England, but the colours are thistle and sea green. The rank of wearer is denoted by the number of stars on his collar.

France. – The Grand Orient has aprons very elaborately embroidered or painted and edged with crimson or blue. In the third degree, blue embroidered sashes are used lined with black.

Greece. – In recent years the clothing has become exactly identical with that worn in England, although formerly silk and satin aprons painted and embroidered with crimson were worn.

Germany. – Aprons varied greatly in size and shape, from square to the shape of a shield. Some bear rosettes and others the level. There is no uniformity and German Lodges had jewels apparently according to the taste of each.

Holland. – Each Lodge selects its own colours for aprons and the ribbons to which the jewels are attached. Individuals may use embroidery, fringes, etc., according to their own fancy.

Hungary. – The members of Grand Lodge wear collars of light blue silk with a narrow edging of red, white and green-their national colours-from which are suspended five pointed stars. The Grand Lodge Officers wear collars of orange colour edged with green and lines with white silk. They are embroidered with the acacia and the emblems of office. The aprons have a blue edging with three rosettes for a Master Mason.

Italy. – The Entered Apprentice apron is plain white silk. The Fellow craft is edged and lined with a square printed in the centre. The Master Mason wears an apron lined and edged with crimson, bearing the square and compasses. He also wears a sash of green silk, edged with red, embroidered with gold and lined with black on which are embroidered the emblems of mortality in silver. It must be remembered, however, that Freemasonry for some time past has been suppressed in Italy, the reason being that it intermeddled in national politics.

Iceland. – Plain white aprons, edged with blue, bearing the number of the lodge. At the Annual Communication lambskins are worn with a narrow silver braid in the centre of the ribbon. In former days, the Worshipful Master always wore a red cloak and silk hat.

Portugal. – The apron of the Grand Lodge Officers are of white satin, edged with blue and gold and with three rosettes. The collar is made of blue silk with the acacia embroidered in gold.

Spain. – The apron of the Entered Apprentice is of white leather, rounded at the bottom, with a pointed flap, worn raised. The Fellowcraft wears the same with the flap turned down, and the Mason (Master) wears a white satin apron with a curved flap, edged with crimson, and embroidered with a square and compass, enclosing the letter G. The letters M and B, and three stars also appear. It is lined with black silk and embroidered with the skull and crossbones and three stars.

Switzerland. – The clothing is simple. The Entered Apprentice apron is white with the lower corners rounded. The Fellowcraft has blue edging and strings, and the Master Mason has a wider border and three rosettes in the body of the apron, while the flap is covered with blue silk. The apron of the Grand Officers is edged with crimson, without tassels or rosettes, except in the case of the Grand Master, which has three crimson rosettes.

Thus it will be seen that our apron is a very honourable garment, one that we should treasure. It is an apron made of lambskin, pure white, without fault or stain – the colour of the Soul as mortal man sees it. It is ours and it now depends upon each of us to keep it without blemish – to keep it as a mirror of our soul that we may stand the final test when we reach into Life Eternal – which is just beyond.

Our Operative Brethren wore an apron to save their clothing from being soiled at work, so the Speculative brother dons it as a desire to be kept unsoiled from the world.

God’s message to us is, "Be faithful unto death, and I shall give thee a Crown of Life". Thus may the purity and whiteness of our apron be a reflection of our Soul so that when our name is called on Judgment Day, we may look up to God and say, "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course and I have kept the Faith."

And the Great Architect will say, "Enter, free and of good report".

"More Ancient."

According to Bro. Howe in his book THE FREEMASONS’ MANUAL, Emnolphus of Trace was initiated in the Elusinian Mysteries (in Greece) in the year 1350 B.C. He was made the first priest and it was he who instituted the lambskin as a symbol of Peace and Goodwill. Thus it will be seen that the apron is indeed "more ancient than the Golden Fleece or the Roman Eagle."

The Order of the Garter is the oldest and highest order of knighthood in the world today. Founded in the year 1348 by Edward III., King of England, a blue garter is the badge of the Order on which is displayed its motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. (Evil be to whom evil thinks).

www.flickr.com/photos/36616854@N02/9554616655/in/photolis…

A collar from which is suspended a figure of St. George, the Patron Saint of England, mounted in the act of slaying the dragon, and an eight-pointed star having a cross of four equal arms and angles in its centre, surrounded by the motto complete the Order insigna.

The origin of the Order is that the King picked up a garter dropped from her ladyship, the Countess of Salisbury, at a Ball and ,placing it about his own knee, said "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE."

The Order was originally composed of 25 knights, exclusive of the Sovereign, the Royal Family and foreign Princes. It was first called the Order of St. George and ladies were admitted during its first two centuries. Today England’s reigning Queen and Princess Elizabeth are the only members of the fair sex carried on the list-with the title "Lady of the Garter".

It is of interest to note that the Duke of Connaught, late Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of England, is one of the most distinguished members of the Order of the Garter.

Wearing of Badges.

The wearing of Badges is an ancient custom. Israelite Priests wore Girdles. Indians, Persians (Iranians) and Egyptians of advanced rank wore white robes striped and ornamented with tassels and fringes.

Colour of the apron is white and has always been the colour for purity, and referered to in the Bible:- Eccles. 9. 8. "Let thy garments be always white." and in Rev. 3, 4. "They shall walk with me in white for they are worthy."

Aaron the High Priest was commanded when he entered the Sanctum Sanctorum to make an expiation for the sins of the people, to appear clothed in white linen. The war-like Scandinavians presented their candidates with a white shield. Disciples of Pythagoras chanted their songs clothed in garments of white. The Egyptians decorated the head of their principal deity OSIRIS with a white tiara and the priests wore robes of the whitest linen.

The word "candidate" itself is derived from the Latin word "candidus" – a white man.

In Germany (as well as in the Netherlands) the candidate in the first degree receives a pair of white gloves as a symbol of purity.

The Entered Apprentice Apron.
www.flickr.com/search/?w=21728045@N08&q=Entered%20app…

The apron is a perfect square, its four right angles teach us that Purity, Truth, Sincerity and Honesty are the foundations of morality. Its four sides remind us to practice the four cardinal virtues – Temperance in word and deed; Fortitude in a noble purpose; Prudence in judging wisely; Justice to the humblest and greatest alike. The Square (or ‘four’ ) is the symbol of matter. Four was the emblem of matter to the ancients because they thought that the earth flat, square, and marked by the four points of the compass.

The flap is triangle whose three sides teach us to relieve a distressed brother. To be kind and friendly in dealing with our fellow men. The triangle is the threefold revelation for God, or Divine Wisdom.

The circle formed by the strings is the symbol of Spirit.

The Entered Apprentice Apron should have the flap pointing upwards, indicating that Divine Wisdom has not yet truly penetrated the gross matter of our bodies.

The Equilateral triangle made by the upper flap teaches us the threefold personal revelation of God. The triangle is the Symbol of the Deity for this reason. In geometry, a single line cannot represent a perfect figure, neither can two lines. Three lines, however, constiute the triangle, or first perfect demonstrable figure. Hence this figure symbolises the Eternal God, infinitely perfect in his nature. But the triangle properly refers to God only in his quality as an eternal Being, its three sides representing the past, present and future. This symbolism of the Eternal God by the triangle is the reason why the Trinitarian scheme has been so prevalent in all religions and in Freemasonry; the frequent recurrence of the No. 3 throughout all ritualistic symbolism, is striking evidence of this. The Greek character Delta is formed as an equilateral triangle and from the sacredness attached to the form of the triangle, this character was always known as the Sacred Delta. The Egyptians called it the Sacred No. 3, a number of perfection. It was an object of worship among them as a symbol of the Grand Principle of animated existence which extends its influences throughout all created matter the three sides representing the animal, vegetable and mineral departments of nature.

To the Jews the triangle represented the three periods of existence: the past, present and future. To the Hindus: creation, preservation and renewal. To the Chinese: heaven, earth and water.

The flap of the apron when raised forms a triangle standing on a square. This was considered by the Egyptians as a most perfect figure because in the Egyptian ceremony of Initiation into their mysteries, the candidate, blindfolded and with a chain around his neck, is led by a brother to a door in the wall of the temple of the lodge-the door formed a triangle symbolising Heaven and square representing the area of the entrance on which he trod symbolised earth, thus the entrance symbolised passing from Earth to Heaven. The granite triangle in the king’s chamber in the Great Pyramid is said to represent the triune God of the Egyptians.

The Fellowcraft Apron

www.flickr.com/search/?w=21728045@N08&q=Fellowcraft

The Fellowcraft Apron has the flap pointing down and indicates (1) That wisdom has begun to enter and therefore control matter, and (2) that the Soul and body are acting in unison. The two rosettes stress the dual nature of man and have a clear reference to the two Pillars. The two rosettes also point out that the Fellowcraft has not yet completed Freemasonry as it requires a third rosette to form a triangle. It is thought by some that the blue rozettes added to the Fellowcraft apron indicate the progress being made in the science of regeneration and that the candidate’s spirituality is beginning to bud forth, also that the wilderness of the natural man is now blossoming as the rose, in the flowers and graces of his regenerated nature.

The Master Mason’s Apron.

The addition of the third rosette forms a triangle, pointing upwards. A triangle, point upwards, represents Fire or Divine Spark. It is the emblem of Shiva, the third member of the Hindu Trinity. It also represents spirit. The triangle of the flap and triangle of the rosettes form a square where they overlap. This square represents matter. Thus we have the union of Body (square), Soul (top triangle) and Spirit (lower triangle).

The Tassels.

The apron was at first fastened by strings passed around the back and brought to the front, with the ends hanging down. It became the custom to decorate the ends with fringes, jewels, etc., but the introduction of elastic bands did away with that idea and the pendants were added as a sort of "in memoriam" to the departed strings. Later, the design of the tassels was made with a symbolic background.

In spring 2013 I organized #SpaceBembel, a #SpaceSocial where a group of #SpaceTweeps got together again to share some space fun in Frankfurt.
As one of my mottos is "no #SpaceTweetup without a proper badge" I designed one and distributed it to all participants.
What I had started back then became kind of a tradition in the meantime:
Inspired by several #Space- and #ScienceTweetups I painted logos for every event I attended,
got them printed on badges for all, as well as thank-you posters, t-shirts, etc. as memento of our shared adventures.

And 2013 has been quite a ride 🙂

#BuraMooN 1 & 2 * #SpaceKoelschX * #CERNTweetup * #ItIsStonehengeReunionOClock * #ScienceTweetup

And 2014 is also amazing already:
I already created designs for #SpaceFestVI and #AlexTweetup taking place in May
and @SpaceUpUK in July 2014.
I am very much looking forward to sharing these events with so many friends from all over the world.

More to come 😉

So #AlexTweetup is about our trip to Baikonur shared by 16 dedicated #SpaceTweeps and two #SpaceMascots named #PinkLittleDragon and @CamillaSpace.
All of us will share this unique adventure of witnessing the Soyuz launch of our German astronaut Alexander Gerst ( #FF @Astro_Alex ) to #ISS on 28. May 2014 via Twitter, Facebook and other social media channels.

Here is the collection of my brainstorming and the design process as well as many pictures of the past 5 years, from the day at #TdLR09, where we "met" Alexander Gerst and the other #shenanigans for the very first (but not the last) time, shortly after their assignments for a trip to #ISS.
Oh yes, there was a time before twitter and other social media 😉

My latest design features the #NebraSkydisk – one of the most beautiful and most fascinating archeological and astronomical artefacts ever found – until today.
This is the oldest-known illustration of our cosmos so far, with an estimated age of 3600 years (!!!), the earliest known diagram of the heavens, which makes it one or may be THE most important archaeological discovery of the twenty-first century.
It was discovered by treasure hunters on July 4th 1999 near the city of Nebra in Germany and since then fascinates not only the experts as its history is really exciting from then till now.
www.dailymotion.com/video/x1a45jq_the-nebra-sky-disc-anci…
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebra_sky_disk
www.bibliotecapleyades.net/arqueologia/nebra_disk.htm

I fell in love with this beauty as soon as I saw it the very first time several years ago.
And I always wanted to paint it one day!
So what better match could there be than combining this masterpiece -created by stargazers thousands of years ago, who loved observing (and already started understanding) our night sky- with two fantastic #SpaceEvents in May 2014.
#SpaceFestVI in Pasadena ( www.spacefest.info/VI/brochure.html ), THE #SpaceEvent of the year, where many astronauts of the dawning of space exploration did reunite and inspire all of us
and then -end of May- our #AlexTweetup – where we celebrate the launch of @esa astronaut Alexander Gerst, whose mission name is #TheBlueDot (!!!).
Both events bring people together (again), who travel all around the world to share their love of space and our beautiful blue marble …
And I am really honored that sharing my badges and designs with so many #SpaceTweeps AND astronauts of the very first era of space exploration until today made so many people smile again. And these smiles seem to be contagious ;-D
I cannot really explain it, there simply is this very special close link between us.

and – as asked for – I will gladly send pictures of my design as well as badges and photos of #SpaceFestVI in Pasadena and #AlexTweetup in Baikonur to the Museum for its collection / exhibition.

It is my pleasure to share the #NebraSkydisk far beyond the borders of Germany – especially during events, which only can take place, because some people started documenting their night-sky-observations thousands of years ago.

This definitely is a very adventurous trip and if someone had told me 5 years ago, when we met that guy in blue for the very first time that we would be going to KAZAKHSTAN half a decade later to see HIS launch, I would NEVER EVER have believed it.
